The Flipped Class - Captured on October 26, 2012 at the Fall CUE Conference, flipped classroom pioneer Jon Bergmann walks through his transformation from a twenty year lecturer to a flipped class pioneer.
He will take you on his journey and show how the flipped class can transform today's educational climate. The Flipped Class allows teachers to have more face-to-face time with students, allows for real differentiation, causes student to take responsibility for their learning, and allows students to master material.
Jon Bergmann is considered one of the pioneers in the Flipped Class Movement. He co-wrote the book on the Flipped Classroom.
Jon believes educators should ask one guiding question: What is best for my students in my classroom? To the best of his abilities he has done this in his twenty-four years as a high school science teacher. He received the Presidential Award for Excellence for Math and Science Teaching in 2002 and was named Semi-Finalist for Colorado Teacher of the Year in 2010. He is the founder of the Flipped Learning Network, a non profit organization which provides teachers the resources needed to implement flipped learning (http://flippedlearning.org). He serves on the advisory board of TED Education. He is currently the Lead Technology Facilitator for the Joseph Sears School in Kenilworth, Illinois. He is the father of three teenagers and is happily married to the love of his life.
